Learning The Art Of Responsibility

Posted by admin | Posted in Articles, Main Content | Posted on 26-03-2010

Growing up always presents itself with a host of problems and benefits at the same time. When parents tell you what to do by showing you the way to economic liberation the first reaction is to take insult and get grumpy. But the fact is that everyone has to learn to take care of themselves instead of depending on parents for everything.

The first step must is ensuring that you get a job and a regular source of income. Being responsible means that you no longer have to turn to your parents for money. Go through the classifieds columns and apply for jobs as soon as possible so that you can start your independent life with no delay. A job means you won’t have to ask for money and that’s the beginning of responsibility.

Once you have secured a job it is very important to keep it. This is because being careless can lead to you knocking at your parent’ doorstep asking for money to pay the rent or to buy groceries. Be sure to do everything you are supposed to do on time with the right care and focus during the first few months so that the bosses won’t think about firing you. Deadlines must be met and work must be done because without a job you’ll be back home depending on them again.

Responsibility is all about hard work and discipline. Against popular belief these two are not nagging bedfellows that can never exist simultaneously. Make sure you put in overtime hours at work so that you learn how to endure work pressures. Reaching retirement age while keeping a regular and stable job is an expectation that is best dealt with by understanding that work is important and should be done in order for us to support our needs.

The first few salaries you receive must be used with great care. In other words you must learn how to save money early on so that if anything happens you will at least have something to fall back on. With money saved you can pay for rent and food, basics you can never do without. But wasting money at a costume jewelry wholesale event can leave you penniless by the time you have to pay rent.

Basics are those things that you need, not the things you want. Basics are not luxuries and they don’t cost more than what they’re usually worth. Be sure to pay the rent; buy food and make wise investments in financial instruments that will generate money for you even when you’re not working. An internet business income can bring you passive income but until you’re all settled without any cashflow issues, it’s best to leave its implementation for another day. Having basics around will give you peace. Once you have them you can then move on to luxuries.

When you do get paid you must also spoil yourself occasionally. The element of relaxing and affording time for friends; family and personal interests is key to maintaining a healthy state of mind. But don’t overdo it as it might affect your job and your savings.

Short Term Goals

Posted by admin | Posted in Articles, Main Content | Posted on 22-05-2009

Personal and professional life depends on goal setting now more than ever. The importance to plan, stick to the plan, adjust it as you progress and finally reach the goal represent important steps of the way. But during the planning phase, one may realize that there are short term goals that require all the attention and on which the other larger ones depend. This is what makes the difference between long and short term goals.

According to certain opinions short term goals must be defined according to the plan you make when you first set them. If the period of time stays within one month those are definitely short term goals, but beyond six months or more, we’re talking about long term ones. What they fail to see, is that you cannot speak about short term goals without having in mind long term ones.

We can only think and plan the former against the background of the latter. The definition of short term goals is pretty relative if we think about the individual way of appreciating the period of time necessary for goal fulfillment: if one plans short term goals for weeks, another will take months as the reference extent.

One essential aspect to take into consideration when setting short term goals is the necessity to stay specific and very realistic in terms of planning. If you think that teaching your students past tense next week is a well defined and smart goal, failure will take you by surprise. Even more specific terms are necessary for the planning of short term goals.

Teach the difference between regular and irregular verbs next Tuesday morning in class between 9 and 11: here is the realistic version of the plan presented above. The aim as such is pretty small but it is surely realistic and achievable for a two hour period. That is certainly one of the short term goals included in a larger plan or long term goal of allowing foreign students to learn how to use past tense forms of verbs after teaching, practicing, reinforcing and revising for at least several weeks as part of an English course.

Hoping that this has made clear the difference between short term goals and long term ones, the only thing left is to advise you to stick to the plans you have made and demonstrate perseverance in order to achieve success.

Goal Setting Worksheets

Posted by admin | Posted in Articles, Main Content | Posted on 18-05-2009

Major achievements like goal reaching do not come easy for most people. But until we get to meeting these goals, we should start with defining and clarifying them in our minds. To well organized people, visual cues will therefore make the best way to determine strategies and clarify ideas and points of interest. In fact, adequate goal setting represents the purpose for the creation of goal setting sheets.

The so-called goal setting worksheets are simple pieces of paper used to record plans, dreams and wishes. The most basic format used for such papers comes as a list with the goals, the steps necessary for the carrying out of the plan, the reasons that motivate the action and the final reward.

You should not imagine that creating one such piece of paper can be done in 5 minutes and be reliable. It usually takes a while for one to come up with an elaborated viable list of goals and step-by-step plans for each of them. Becoming realistic and time-oriented is not an easy task; that is why it is advisable not to hurry when working with goal setting worksheets.

Every now and then, you need to re-check the plan and its outlines. Life often brings changes that transforms the nature of the set goals, turning them into something no longer desirable or doable. Consequently, a reevaluation process, a new prioritization and a reorganization should be analyzed and assumed if necessary.

Another smart way of making keeping track of your goals a lot easier is by the use of goal posters instead of the goal setting sheets. It has been proven that visual cues to which one is permanently exposed are very successful motivating agents. A poster with plans and time frames that is stuck on your office or studio wall will bring the necessary impulse.

Goal setting worksheets remain pretty ordinary and common compared to the more creative posters. The latter involve more space and more creativity that will surely imprint a better visualization of the plan and a better mood to yourself. Highlighting will give a higher visual force to the posters in a superior way as compared to a basic sheet of paper.

All in all, whether goal setting worksheets or goal posters, remember that it is important to use some kind of media that helps you get order in your thoughts and future plans.

Goal Setting

Posted by admin | Posted in Articles, Main Content | Posted on 14-05-2009

Life achievements and goal setting are interconnected to the point that one cannot exist without the other, although exceptions do happen. Analysts claim that without having clearly defined goals, there are fewer chances of actually becoming fulfilled with what you do and who you are. However, a deeper understanding of the goal setting necessity lacks from our education. Following, there are some tips addressing the challenges of goal setting for all sorts of personal and professional situations.

Keeping an open mind and a positive way of thinking represents the first step towards individual success. Without a positive state of mind nothing will come out right. Use music, comedies, jokes, friends chatting or anything else that will put you into a good mood may work. Next, choose the areas of your life in which you would like to make changes or achieve successes. At the peak point of the goal setting session try to delineate the professional from the personal targets.

The following step of goal setting is giving a time frame for each of the goals on your list. Beware the fact that some incorrect time frames lead to the appearance of unrealistic goals. If you allow too little time to a certain objective, then all you will actually get is bitter frustration and lack of success. Therefore, it is essential that you use your judgment and have a touch of reality from this point of view.

Another aspect of goal setting is making order in your notes. If your brainstorming session has left you with a complete mess on the paper, rewrite these goals and make sure that their formulation is entirely based on positive and motivational language. Use vocabulary phrases that express likes, wishes and preferences so that the motivational aspect will always be there when you read your notes. Identifying priorities will also come with the organizational aspect. People with too many goals should separate them according to various criteria. Determine which of the aims on that list are short-term or long-term ones, and which are more or less important from the aspects of both personal life and career.

Last but not least, an important aspect of goal setting is making plans for each of the goals you want to meet. The step-by-step analysis will always keep you on track and will help you leave out unimportant or irrelevant aspects. That being done, do not overlook to review and reevaluate goals from time to time. Especially with extensive plans and goals, it is a good idea every now and then to analyze the items on the list, reevaluate individual resources and determine whether goals have remained realistic and in accordance with personal and professional expectations.
